Woven (2016)
This conceptual piece is a look at how consumerism affects our lives in ways we may not be aware of. Americans are buying more and more, yet what kind of effect does this have on our environment? A wooden house frame was constructed in a very simplistic way to represent the value of living minimally. The walls of the house are made of plastic grocery bags woven together. Despite knowing how destructive plastics can be to our environment, we seem unready to change our ways of living to create a more sustainable world. I hope people look at their lives, think about how stuff isn't important, and possibly take a more simplistic approach to life. Slowly, then we can break away from the suffocation of consumerism.
